"I have been to Uruguay twice and each time was fantastic. The scenery, food, people and the wildlife are all incredible. If you are in to fish, this is the place to be. Drive a few hours and there will be a whole collection of different cichlids, catfish and tetras. You will find so much variety that you can’t take them all home, so you will have to return again and again.
Not only is there such diversity, these fish are tough! On my trip the first year, my return plane was stuck in Vail, Colorado for 4 hours. My suitcases with fish were stuck on the tarmac getting snowed on, yet I only lost a couple of fish. In some US states, you can keep these fish outdoors all year, other states indoors without running heaters.
Felipe is very knowledgeable about these great fish and shares a wealth of information about them and his country. I have made many friends on my world travels and Uruguay is my favorite place in the world.
I will go back again and again, to catch fish, eat great food and to see amazing scenery in the wild and the city!
Uruguay is a wonderful place to visit, I can’t wait till I return next to see my good friend Felipe Cantera and his family."
