"Why visit Uruguay?
Do you enjoy the cosmopolitan lifestlye? Montevideo and its environs fit the bill. It's all here. Modern and historical architecture, dining from fast food to haute cuisine, shopping for all budgets and desires and don't forget the beaches.
Maybe you're more of the outdoors type. For a small country ( drive from
border to border within a day ) there is plenty to see and do. With the
proper permits, collect an astounding diversity of aquarium compatible
fish or angle for the rod bending dorado and other game species.
Visit seal
colonies along the coast. View the abundant birdlife. I can pretty much
guarantee seeing a Nandu (rhea- the South American equivalent of the
ostrich) out in the countryside.
Go back in time. Visit an estancia and experience the lifestyle revolving
around cattle and sheep ranching. Ride a horse, talk to gauchos, enjoy the
wide, open vistas or just relax. Experience a different culture and
mindset.
New aquaintances become old friends very quickly.
I've traveled here 4 times and plan to go back. So at least you should
experience Uruguay once."
