"In January 2006 I had the pleasure of a tour with Felipe.
As Uruguay is Spanish talking, and I did not speak any Spanish, I was very glad Felipe does speak English very well. Besides, any word he did not know, happened to be the same in Swedish (his second language) as in Dutch (my first) thus communication was no problem at all.
However, I was never outside Europe before either. Therefore, I tried to find as much about Uruguay as I could. It is a very stable, peaceful country, with cultural influences from mostly Italy and Spain (both well known for their cuisine). However, true as that might be, it is also very relaxed. A good place to spend a holiday.
We did mostly trips of 1 day, and as Felipe has a lot of room for fishes, the fishes could stay at Felipe’s place until it was time for the home journey. Apart from one leaking bag, (due to my suitcase) all fishes survived the trip to my house (18 hrs by plane). Now, November 2006, I have young fishes of 2 varieties of Gymnogeophagus meriodonalis, and 1 female of Gymnogeophagus labiatus is breeding fry. Still I took home only small (less than 4 cm / 1.5 inch) fishes.
If you want to know how well I enjoyed it? I will go in January 2007 again!"
